Q & A
Pregnant? Need a place to stay as you sort out your best options for you and
your baby? We hope these questions and answers help you to discover if New
Beginnings is the place you want to go for help:
1. What can I do now that I know I’m pregnant?
You can talk with a counselor in the hope that you would make a right
decision regarding your child’s future.
2. What can I do, and where can I go to get help during this time as I wait
for the birth of my baby?
Go to your family, but if your family is not supportive of your present
situation, please call us at New Beginnings. We are here to listen.
3. What is New Beginnings?
New Beginnings is a long-term, Christian-based program offering structure
and spiritual guidance for a young mother and her new baby. New Beginnings is located in the metropolitan Denver area of Colorado. Each
mother has her own apartment, furnished with all the necessities for a
comfortable stay.
4. What will New Beginnings expect of me?
Each resident agrees to cooperate with the staff and other residents in an
effort to provide the best enrichment for all mothers and babies. While at
New Beginnings, the mother is required to attend school or work at a job.

5. What will it cost to stay at New Beginnings?
Half of a resident’s TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families)
compensation or paycheck (if she is employed) is set aside in her savings to
be taken with her when she departs, and the other half is used to support
her stay at New Beginnings.
6. How long can I stay at New Beginnings?
Residents may stay at the home during their pregnancy and for one year after
the birth of their child.
7. How will I be helped at New Beginnings?
The program of New Beginnings is designed to help you make God-pleasing
decisions about your life and the life of your child. If those
decisions include placing your child for adoption, we will help you
understand the decision and make it happen. If your decision is to raise
your child then we will provide you opportunities to expand your education
and vocational skills while also helping you learn responsible parenting
skills.
8. Can I work when I am a resident at New Beginnings?
Work is required if you are not attending school. Your work schedule needs
to work around the programming that is conducted at New Beginnings.
9. If I parent my baby, what will I do for child care if I go to school or
work?
You will need to find a daycare provider that works with your schedule
within the vicinity of your job or school.
10. What happens to me when I am "done" at New Beginnings?
Every effort will be made to ease you back into your family home, if
possible. Another option would be to help you find an alternate location
to begin a new life, make new friends and provide for your family's needs.
With God's help, you will be equipped to handle any and all
situations or know where to go for help.
We know that being responsible for two lives, both yours and your baby’s,
can be frightening. We are here to let you know that you are NOT alone.
Please resist the pressure you may be feeling to make a quick decision.
