Lost

​Have you ever lost something?  Did you try for hours and hours to find it only to be left feeling disappointed and frustrated?  I was recently talking with one of our residents during her goal meeting and she told me that she had searched everywhere she could think of but she couldn't find her portfolio anywhere.  She knew that it should have been somewhere in her apartment but couldn't find it no matter how much she looked.  Luckily for her, a portfolio is replaceable and not vital for her life.  However, that is not always the case.

​Sometimes we start to feel we are losing our faith, our passion for Christ, or some other gift from the Holy Spirit.  Perhaps you feel you're losing your capacity for patience or your willingness to serve others.  So where do we begin to look for these losses?  It can be so easy to get caught up in the search.  First, it is important to remember where these gifts are coming from: the Holy Spirit.  "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."  (Galations 5:22-23a).  Thankfully, we don't have to look any further than God's Word to find them.  "Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the Word about Christ."  (Romans 10:17).  With faith, the fruit of the Spirit will become obvious in our lives and in our hearts.  

​Still feeling doubtful?  Take a moment to pray.  God tells us over and over again in His Word that He will grant us anything we ask for in Jesus' name according to His Will.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened."  (Matthew 7:7-8)

"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."  Mark 11:24

​"'Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.'"  (John 16:23b-24)

Some people spend their whole lives searching and feeling lost.  Our God doesn't want you to be one of them.
